Discovering Platform Resources

Prerequisites

• You have configured a license by referring to License Configuration.
• You have added credentials by referring to Credential Management.
• You have installed the cloud platform collector by referring to Plugin Management.

Procedure

1. Double-click the RDA icon on the desktop or RDA.exe in the installation directory to start the RDA client. Enter the username and password to log in to the RDA console.
2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Discovery > Platforms.
3. Choose Actions > Add in the upper left corner of the page.

4. Enter the required information by referring to Table 1.
   If no credentials are added in advance, click Add Credential next to the Credential box. In the expanded area, configure parameters and click Save Credential. Then click OK. To learn how to add a credential, see Credential Management.

   Table 1 Parameters

   Parameter	Description
   Name	User-defined
   Type	Select the cloud platform type Public cloud or Private cloud.
   Vendor	Public cloud: Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud, AWS, and UCloud are supported. Private cloud: Only VMware is supported.
   Region	This parameter is available only when you select Public cloud for Type. You can choose which regions to be discovered.
   Connection Address	This parameter is available only when you select Private cloud for Type. Enter the IP address of the VMware environment.
   Resource Type	This parameter is available only when you select Public cloud for Type. Select the types of the resources to be discovered, including servers, containers, middleware, databases, networks, and storage. You can select multiple resource types at a time.
   Credential Name	User-defined
   Authentication	AK/SK: Enter the AK and SK for accessing the source cloud platform.
   	Username/Password: Enter the username and password for logging in to the source cloud platform or VMware environment.
   	Configuration File: Upload the .json configuration file of the source cloud platform.

   

   View the added platform in the list. The system automatically checks the credential binding status and discovers resources on the platform.

Follow-Up Operations

After a platform is added to RDA, you can perform the following operations:

• Viewing the discovery results

  In the platform list, locate an added platform and view the status icon in the Status column.

  • If the icon is , the discovery succeeds. Click the data in the Discovered Resources column to view the resource details.

    

  • If the icon is , the discovery fails.
• Viewing the cause of a discovery failure

  Hover over and view the failure cause.

• Modifying a certificate

  To modify a bound credential, perform the following steps:

  1. Locate the platform and click Modify in the Operation column.

     

  2. Select another existing certificate or add a new certificate. Then click OK.
• Adding regions to be discovered
  1. Click next to the platform name.
  2. Click Add Region.

     

  3. Select one or more regions to be added from the Region drop-down list and click OK.

     A message is displayed, indicating that the regions are added successfully. You can view the added region in the list.

• Rediscovering a platform

  After handling the discovery failure cause or modifying the credential, select the platform and choose Actions > Rediscover in the upper left corner to rediscover the platform resources.

  

• Adding a tag

  If you add multiple platforms to RDA, you can tag them for more efficient management and search.

  1. Select the platform to which you want to add a tag and click Actions > Manage Tags.

     

  2. Select one or more tags. A tag value can be empty.

     If no tags meet your requirements, click and create a tag by referring to Tag Management.

     

• Quick search

  On the Platforms page, you can enter search criteria in the search box to quickly search for platform resources.
